Huia

Huia Lino Print

The iconic huia was the largest of the five New Zealand wattlebird species. The huia has a strong spiritual significance and is a symbol of connection to the natural world, friendship, nobility, leadership and mana in Māori culture.

Every step in the process of making the linocut, from drawing and designing, to carving and printing, is done by hand, and as such, every linocut is completely unique and may vary slightly in colour, ink evenness and other small variations. 

The Huia is a lino print on Tetrapak printed background. Gold leaf detail has been had applied to some of the series.

Huia has been drawn and carved into linoleum and hand printed by me using water based ink onto acid free paper.
