Artist Bio

Shoreline Studio showcases the work of Aotearoa based Artist Jolene Maciak.

Jolene Maciak is a visual artist whose creative journey began with a degree in Sculpture from the University of the Arts, London, and evolved through a career in teaching secondary Art and Design. Over time, she discovered a deep connection with printmaking, a medium that now sits at the heart of her practice.

Her work spans a variety of techniques, including linocut, drypoint, monotype, and woodcut. Jolene’s process is intuitive and experimental, with a focus on line and form, often involving textured backgrounds, layering, and the incorporation of mixed media and found objects. .

Inspired by the rich natural environment of Aotearoa, New Zealand, her prints reflect the native bush, rugged coastline, and diverse local wildlife, from birds and marine life to  beach and ocean views. Through her distinctive style and use of line, each piece serves as an interpretation and response to the world around her.

Central to her current practice is the development of her own creative space, Shoreline Studio - a project she envisions evolving from a studio into a gallery, community art hub, workshop and exhibition space supporting local artists and creative engagement.
